#2020Vision #24: Dumbell Tricep Kickbacks and WordPress Plugin Update

Continuing with my full workout yesterday morning, this video shows the dumbell tricep kickbacks set, about half way through the second variation of my routine. I made the video for the #2020Vision Challenge, run by Pixie Post on https://ctptalk.com as an initiative to encourage both fitness and content creation. In the video I do a set of 5 kilogram dumbell tricep kickbacks, after a fashion, while attempting to report on a couple of recent updates to my blog plugins.

Here’s my report:

1. I added Facebook Messenger to https://davidhurley.net using Facebook’s Messenger Customer Chat plugin. The Messenger icon only seems to show up on desktop browsers, however.

2. In our book A Thousand A Month ( https://thousandamonth.com ) my co-author, Alex Nordach, and I recommend Statcounter as an easier alternative to Google Analytics. However, I stopped using Statcounter because the plugin had not been updated for a while.

Well, I’m pleased to see that the Statcounter plugin has recently been updated and is once again compatible with the latest version of WordPress. Consequently, I have installed it again.

Free and premium versions available at: https://statcounter.com/

Statcounter automatically sends daily, weekly or monthly reports, as you prefer, to your email inbox:

We feel the stats they provide are perfectly adequate for solo business bloggers such as ourselves:

As you can see, Statcounter gives us four sets of stats that give us an overview of total and daily visitors, unique visitors, returning visitors and page views. We can then compare how our blogs are doing week by week. Nice and easy! Here’s some blurb from the Statcounter site that nicely sums up the difference between them and Google Analytics:

The steep learning curve and heavy use of analytics terminology is a sticking point for many, not to mention the multiple levels of navigation menus and endless array of charts in the Google Analytics interface.

We designed Statcounter for small businesses who don’t have a digital marketing expert on their team. With easy to understand terminology, a simple user interface and all the features you need to understand your visitors, increase your traffic and make the most out of your website and digital marketing activities, Statcounter is the path of least resistance.

The Lenten Fast…

I began the #2020Vision challenge on Shrove Tuesday. On Ash Wednesday I gave up drinking any kind of booze at home for the duration of Lent (including Sundays). No, that does not mean I am compensating by going out every day! The record so far is, 3 days out boozing + 9 days at home sober!

As Lent and my personal #2020Vision Challenge began at more or less the same time, I have decided to extend the #2020Vision to Easter Eve, making a total of 61 challenges…

24/61 challenges completed! Can I get the next 37 challenges done before Easter??
